Model Search!

Calotype needs a model for our upcoming spring portrait special. We've got a beautiful set in mind, we just a need a beautiful little girl to photograph!

Pay our regular child's Session fee of $100, we'll photograph your child, and then we'll give you a portrait credit of $300! Just for modeling!! Here's the criteria:

•female, between the ages of 7-14
•long(er) hair, any color, but if it's RED we will SCREAM WITH JOY!!!
•must be available sometime during the week of February 10-13, Tues-Fri, for a 10:30, 1:30 or 3:00 Session.
•must have access to, or be willing to purchase, a beautiful and STYLISH spring dress (fun or fancy, we don't care!)

Here's what you do:

•email me, Julie, with a picture of your little girl and a brief note telling me why you think she'd be great.
•deadline for submissions is February 4th, Wednesday.
•if you're chosen, I'll call you for a phone consultation to discuss the Session. We'll schedule the date and try to give you enough time to buy a dress, if you need to.
•we'll also schedule your little girl for hair styling at Shag-A-Delx. Fun, fun!!
•you MUST pay our regular child's Session fee of $100. After the Session, we treat you like our regular, wonderful customers and we'll arrange a preview appointment for you to return to the studio to view and choose from your images. We'll give you a $300 Portrait Credit for modeling!!
•your child's picture will be used in our advertising on our blog, website, emails and other advertising, providing the Session results in appropriate images.

Sneak Peek: Case, Laynee & Karys, Pineville, MO

Cousins!! I never had my picture taken with my cousins. I guess it would be a little weird now... but Granny sure would like it. Hmm.

Case and Laynee give their little cousin, Karys, some sugar, in the top image. Look at those serious expressions in the bottom one. Case and Laynee's eyes are just a-MAZE-ing.

Sneak Peek: Kenneth Jones, Bella Vista, AR

Welcome baby Kenneth!!! We took mommy and daddy's maternity Session just a month or so ago, and now baby makes three. Doesn't everyone love a sleeping baby!

Sneak peeks are 1-2 images posted shortly after a Session, but before a client returns for their Preview Appointment to view and choose their images. We know you can't wait.

Yes We Do Have A Personal Life

Dave and Jenny Holden invited us to their SouthPaw Trimworks company Christmas party back in December, mostly because we're so good looking, but also because they're our friends. Since it was freezing cold, we thought we'd stand out in traffic and take pictures. I love friends!

The Red Onion has the best potato soup ever. I'll bet it beats your mothers.

Fun With New Lens.... and an excuse to take more pictures of Jack.

We took Jack's three-month pictures right before we headed to Indiana for Christmas, and I still haven't processed them. Shame on mommy! I'll get to them eventually... but now he's four months (FOUR MONTHS!) I wanted to try out a new lens today (50mm Prime 1.4) and Jack and Jon just happened to be nearby. Jack's looks kill me. He would NOT smile, no matter how much Daddy squeezed his face. I hear parents everywhere nodding in complete understanding.

BTW, this fabulous outfit is from Belly Buttons. He's outgrowing it already. Weep.

The background is what's featured below: a lovely gold and dark pink (almost red!) I would suggest wearing outfits as shown. We'll also have one of our vintage cream and tan doors on hand as one of my options.

Here's how it works:

1. Call Belly Buttons to set up your appointment. 417.226.0600

2. Download and print the price guide here.

3. Choose which package you would like, and tell us when you arrive at Belly Buttons for your Session. YOU DECIDE IN ADVANCE WHICH PACKAGE YOU ARE PURCHASING BEFORE WE TAKE YOUR PICTURES. That way I'll know how many pictures to take!!

4. Pay us when you arrive at Belly Buttons, right before we photograph your child. We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. Sorry, Calotype and/or Belly Buttons gift cards cannot be used for this special promo event. Make checks payable to Calotype Photography.

5. I'll work my magic and photograph your child. It will take 15 minutes or less. How many pictures I end up taking depends on which package you purchase. Long time Calotype customers know how I shoot— I take a billion and then narrow it down to the best one(s). This gets waaaaay better expressions than the old "Six shots and you're done" method!

6. Two weeks later, return to Belly Buttons to pick up your portrait package.

7. As an added bonus, do some shopping while you're there, and if you spend $100 or more at Belly Buttons, we'll give you 24 SWEET Valentines featuring your child's photo. I custom designed them just for this Belly Buttons event!

Special notes: Sessions are for one child at a time. We are limited on space and time, so if you want more than one child photographed, you will need to book a separate appointment time for them. If we can, we'll be happy to book them back-to-back for your convenience.

At this time, Sessions are almost completely booked for Saturday the 31st. We originally planned for this to be a one-day event, but we booked up so quickly (before I even posted on the blog! Gasp!) that we decided to open up Friday also.

Skyler, Gracie and Bella Epperson: Pineville, MO

These were taken before the holidays, but I had to hold off on posting them because they were Christmas presents for a certain special Grandma!!

Skyler, Gracie and Bella (children of Ryan and Bridget Epperson) had their pictures taken together, and then with cousins Parker and Riley. What a lovely gift idea.
