Jack Sprat Could Eat No Fat...

Well, the only fat this Jack gets is good ol' mama's milk. He's nine weeks old already, but here he is with Daddy at six weeks, weighing a gigantic five pounds. I was hoping we'd have a little six pound turkey by Thanksgiving, and yay! He's at 6 lbs . 3 oz. and we've still got two more days!

Calotype will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday. We'll reopen in full swing Tuesday the 2nd. Be safe, be thankful, and be good. Santa's watching.

Cullers Family: Anderson, MO

Okay, Christina and Robert— you can call it a family Session all you want, but we know it's all about Audrey! We hadn't seen her since her first birthday Session, and she's learned all sorts of new words. Like "pooping." Hey, we get to know these things after photographing a kid for a while!

I'm into the warm, fuzzy look for pictures right now. We're booked for the rest of the year, but if you want a warm fuzzy look in January (who wouldn't! Brr!) go ahead and call and get on the books. My head is popping with ideas... right now I'm plotting Valentine's Day. Can't say much, except it involves some sweet fabric from a darling place called Madison Lane...

Shelby Vankirk: Lamar, MO

Shelby's a senior at Lamar. She's got a beautiful, wistful expression! Her mom Tina had to help me out, holding the reflector (since Jack's home, my husband abandoned his reflector-holding position and now wants to hold the baby!) I must say, Tina did a great job. Thanks, Vankirk family, for choosing Calotype!

Katelyn Moore: Bella Vista, AR

Katelyn shared a part of her Christmas card Session with her cousin Trinity, than she ended with her beautiful Cinderella dress. Oh my! She does look like a princess!

Cole and Carlie Martin: Anderson, MO

Cole and Carlie came in for a Christmas card Session. This shoot was full of camera room drama— can you tell by the first image? What fun!

They brought Rudolph in with them; the star is mine. (Just making note of that, for all the people that read the blog and wonder if they need to bring props. No, but you can.)

Aidan Sabby: Bella Vista, AR

Aidan is the son of Toni and Ken Sabby. What a little cutie! Mom didn't plan on being in any of the photographs, but I couldn't resist a snuggly mother and son shot. I'm a sucker for little boys right now...

Mini Christmas Sessions: December 5 & 6

Enjoy an easy taste of Calotype, just for the holidays! We're now booking mini-Sessions with a Christmas theme for Friday and Saturday, December 5th and 6th. Here's the info:

$75 Session Fee
Includes five 4x6 Prints (one pose)
1-2 People (kids, couples, even pets!)
Funky Christmas green background
Lots of poses to choose from
Pay in advance to book

After the Session, we book an ordering appointment for you to return to the studio and view and choose your images. This time is so much fun! All the fabulous looks we created in your mini-Session will be retouched and projected onscreen for you to choose from. Packages start at $250.

Even though it's "mini" for Calotype, you'll love the "many" fabulous images we'll create! Hurry and book— we only have a few spots available. We can only do a few on these two days, so make sure you're one of the lucky ones! My head is brimming with all sorts of new ideas, looks, poses and designs, and I want to show them off!

Aereal Stites: Anderson, MO

Aereal's the first of the McDonald County crowd to come in for senior portraits. First come, first-to-get-great-stuff that everyone else will want, too! I took Aereal to my new favorite place to photograph— behind All-Star Pizza in the alleyway. Who knew all these undiscovered places were hiding in Anderson!

Note to high-school seniors: Calotype is completely booked for the rest of 2008, except for our Christmas Mini-Sessions. You can reserve your Session appointment for 2009 by emailing us or calling 417.845.1151.

Robyn Diaz: Welch, OK

Okay, Robyn's senior pictures totally rocked. Not only were she and her mom, Marcia, easy to work with (I love it when people trust me! They always get the best stuff!) but I was FEELING IT. Motherhood inspires me! You'll probably be seeing a lot of Robyn's face at the studio, since I just ordered samples for the studio and the mall display.

So thanks, Robyn and Marcia. We're glad you came!

Jack Is Home!

After four-and-a-half weeks in the NICU, Jack came home to mommy and daddy. (Gosh, does saying "mommy and daddy" sound weird!)

He's a tiny guy, weighing in at 4 lbs. and 12 oz. Healthy (if not quite hale!) and happy, he comes to work with us and enjoys his time in the Pack-and-Play. His favorite activities, as of right now, include eating, sleeping and making Mommy change as many diapers as she can in one day. :)

It's so much to shoot a Session, then drop back in my office to kiss all over my ridiculously cute little baby. He's not going to have a face left by the time Jon and I are done with him! We have so much love— we've got to let it all out, somehow!

These are the first portraits I took of Jack in the studio. I still can't believe he's ours to keep!

Alex Rydberg: Baxter Springs, KS

Funny story- Alex's mom, Kelli, was one of my nurses in the birthing center at Freeman when I gave birth to Jack. I will forever be grateful to her for getting me up and letting me take a SHOWER!!! Hopefully, Kelli and Alex will forever love their Calotype experience. :) Thanks, girls, for choosing us. We had a great time!

Trinity Moore: Rogers, AR

Trinity started her Calotype Session with a Christmas outfit for Christmas cards. Look at that beautiful, curly hair! Then we did her ballet outfit, followed by some fun in a funky leopard coat that I wish I had. Trinity worked the camera as only a six-year-old can. What fun!

Trinity also had portraits taken with her 2-year-old cousin, Katelyn. Watch for those to be posted later.

Alicia Rice: Springdale, AR

It was a wet, rainy day when we photographed Alicia for her senior portraits, hence the umbrella in the last picture below. No matter! I got to use my new blue doors that I absolutely love (see the first two images below). Really into blue right now.... maybe it's because I just had a boy...

Thanks, Alicia, for coming up to Calotype for senior portraits!
