Brittany and Tiffany Holden: Colorado Springs, CO

We've got Calotype fans, even in the Rockies! These sisters have been following our blog for a long time, ever since they heard about us through a family member. When they came to Missouri for a visit, we were happy they put Calotype on their schedule. We're glad you came all this way to see us, Brittany and Tiffany!

Taylor Stewart: Girard, KS

We got the best of both worlds for the outdoor part of Taylor's senior portrait session. It rained for the first part (check out these awesome moody shots below) and then ended with bright sunshine (she didn't mind sitting on wet grass in her formal!)

It was a great Session. Taylor's senior pictures will stand out in a crowd!

Danielle, Dakota and Dana Fuller: Pineville, MO

I'm finally starting to catch up on my blogging...! These sisters were the last Session I photographed before I went into the hospital to have Jack.

I like photographing sisters. You don't need to work with them to get great smiles— it comes natural, when you're with your siblings!

Jack Stephens: He Finally Gets His Picture Taken!

Jack will be four weeks old tomorrow— you'd think, since his parents were photographers, that the kid would have his picture taken every single day. Nope. We're so busy looking at him, we forget about the camera! Other than the snapshots my parents take, or the day I held him for the first time and Jon happened to have our camera (and a little window light), we haven't photographed anything! Scandalous!

Fortunately for us, my brother Jeff happened to be visiting from Indiana, and fortunately for us, he happens to be a professional photographer, and fortunately for us he happens to be one of THE BEST professional photographers in the US (I do not lie— here's his website) and again, quite fortunately, he's already sent me a few preview images. Aren't they wonderful?!?!

Thanks, Jeff. If you weren't my brother, I'd have to pay you. :)

Postscript: Jack is still in the NICU, but he's growing and thriving so well, the nurses are talking about GOING HOME. Like, in a week, possibly. GASP! What am I going to do? Can the nurses come with him?? :)

Brooks Leach: Southwest City, MO

It's hard to believe that Brooks is already one year old! He came in for his first birthday Session, smiling away like a little angel. The curly blonde hair just adds to the effect! How adorable!

Brooks is the son of Greg and Lana Leach. Sooner fans, as you can tell by the last image. :)

Cohen Borg: Siloam Springs, AR

This little cutie is one year old. There's something about little boys and trucks— they just go together! Oh, and teddy bears. Little boys like them, too. :)

Cohen is the son of Randy and Kara Borg, who just moved into the NWA area. They found us, thanks to Calotype fan Christina Cullers. Small world!

Our Little Family: Life in the NICU

It's hard to believe that our little Jack is almost two weeks old! He's still in the NICU at Freeman Hospital, but we're happy to report that he's doing well. No word yet on when we can bring him home, but don't worry— you'll know about it! First stop— CALOTYPE!

Here's some photos from last week, when we got to hold him for the first time. Precious. I will never, ever forget the moment when I first held his tiny little body next to mine. I still can't believe we're PARENTS....

Yes, I am back to work at the studio. We're currently booking Sessions for November, and surprise, surprise— we still have some Saturdays left! Well, two, anyway. (We were saving those days for a maternity leave with Baby, but our little early bird took care of that!) We are no longer working evenings— those are spent visiting little Jack.

Christmas in September has been extended through October, so if you want Christmas cards, don't forget to take advantage of this special offer. (Read about it on the top right of the blog).

Keep watching— I'll have my "emergency" maternity portraits up here eventually!

Sophia, Ethan and Zoe: Bella Vista, AR

Don't you just love the bright colors these cousins are wearing? Twin sisters Louise and Corine brought their children in for a portrait Session at Calotype, and we made these beautiful images. I love it when people aren't afraid of wearing bold color in their photographs!

Thanks, Corine and Louise (and Grandma Dee Dee!) for choosing Calotype Photography.

Saylor Stidham: Bella Vista, AR

Look at this little cutie with an umbrella! (It WAS raining outside!) Saylor gave us all sorts of great poses (like little girls often do). What a fun Session!

Saylor is the daughter of Angie Walton from Bella Vista.

Cholka Family: Neosho, MO

If you recognize the Cholka name, it's because daughter Kacee was just here for her senior portraits. This family was photographed on a rainy, rainy day— can't tell, can you? Their bright whites and the pale blue background look so fresh and crisp— I love it. Thanks, Carla and Ken, for bringing your family to Calotype!
